Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- Battery runtime is up to 36 days in smartwatch mode, so you will need to charge it about once a month.
- The battery offers up to 80 hours of GPS tracking on a single charge under normal use, and up to 120 hours in Longer Battery Life mode. With sunlight, this increases to 320 hours.
- The Enduro 4 weighs just 66 grams including the wristband, with a titanium bezel, a scratch-resistant Power Sapphire lens, and water-resistance to 10 ATM.
- The watch connects via ANT+ and Bluetooth to your bike sensors, power meter, Varia radar and lights, and transmits your heart rate data to your cycle computer.
- The watch features pre-loaded TopoActive maps, multi-band GPS and a LED flashlight with white and red light.
- You will only get the longest battery runtime in very bright sunlight. Garmin estimates 3 hours a day outdoors in bright light (50,000 lux) but you will not achieve that on a typical winter day.

Are you out and about for days on end and don’t want to keep worrying about charging your smartwatch? The Garmin Enduro 4 is designed for ultra-runners, trail runners, multi-day hikers and bike packers. With normal GPS use, the battery will last up to 80 hours – well over three days of non-stop tracking. If you select "longer battery life" mode, you will get up to 120 hours, and with enough sunlight, even up to 320 hours.
The Enduro 4 weighs just 66 grams including the sweat-wicking ComfortFit band, so you will barely feel it on your wrist. The bezel is made of titanium, the lens of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with built-in solar cells, and the body of glass-fibre-reinforced polymer. It is water-resistant to 10 ATM, so you can shower and swim with it. With 64 GB of memory, it offers plenty of space for maps, routes and music.
When cycling, you can pair the Enduro 4, via ANT+ and Bluetooth, with your speed and cadence sensor, your power meter, a Varia radar or lights, and even your smart trainer. You can transmit your heart rate data to your cycle computer via ANT+, so you don’t need a separate chest strap. There are profiles for road cycling, mountain biking, gravel, e-bike and indoor cycling, and ClimbPro shows you how tough the next climb will be.
If you are planning a long ride, use the Route Planner to mark out your refreshment stops, checkpoints and closing times along the route in advance. Whilst on the go, the stamina statistics show you how much energy you have left. Afterwards, you can use Garmin Epic to combine several days’ worth of activity into a single overview. If you mainly train for a few hours at a time and want a colour display, you will not get the most out of this battery.
Power Sapphire lens with solar cells
The scratch-resistant sapphire glass contains solar cells that recharge your battery while you are outdoors. The brighter the daylight, the longer you can carry on. In battery-saving mode or expedition mode, it will not run out of power at all in the sun.
Energy modes and Power Manager
During an activity, you choose what is more important: maximum accuracy for a short race, or maximum battery life for an ultra. In the Power Manager, you can see how much power each setting and sensor uses, so you know exactly how long you will last.
Multiband GPS with SatIQ
The Enduro 4 uses GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou and QZSS. SatIQ automatically switches to multiband mode when necessary – for example, in a deep valley or amongst tall trees – and switches back when possible. This ensures you get an accurate route without wasting battery power.
Compatible with:
- Wrists with a circumference of 145 to 220 mm using the ComfortFit strap supplied. If you’d like a different wristband, any 26 mm QuickFit model will fit.
- iPhone and Android, via the Garmin Connect app.
- Cycling sensors via ANT+ and Bluetooth: speed and cadence sensors, Garmin Vector and Rally power meters and ANT+ power meters from other brands, Varia radar, Varia lights and Varia front-facing cameras, and smart trainers.
- Heart rate straps for even more accurate measurements, even while swimming.
- Over 100 activity profiles, including road cycling, mountain biking, gravel, e-bike, and indoor cycling, trail running, ultra-running and swimming.

Battery runtimes as specified by Garmin. “With sunlight” means, for Smartwatch, Battery Saver and Expedition modes, that the watch is worn all day, including 3 hours per day outdoors in bright light (50,000 lux). For the Activity modes, it means continuous use in bright light.
Not compatible with:
- Wrists thinner than 145 mm with the ComfortFit strap. With a 26 mm silicone QuickFit wristband, it fits from 127 mm.
- Cyclists who want a colourful AMOLED display – the Enduro 4 has a MIP display, which is easy to read in sunlight.
- Long rides with music playing if you also want to have days of battery life left – music reduces the active time to around 22 hours.
Not sure? Here’s how to check:
Measure your wrist circumference with a tape measure or a strip of paper, just above your wrist bone. If it is between 145 and 220 mm, the supplied strap will fit. Next, look at your longest ride from the past year; if it lasted longer than a day, or if you don’t want to recharge whilst out and about, you will get the most out of this battery.
Included as standard:
- 1x Garmin Enduro 4 sports watch with ComfortFit strap in dark olive
- Charging and data cable with the Garmin connector for the watch on one end and a USB-A plug on the other
- Documentation
Not included / still required or useful:
- USB-A power strip for plugging into the mains. You can also use your computer’s USB-A port.
- USB-A to USB-C adapter – if your laptop or power strip only has USB-C ports.
- A heart rate chest strap for even more accurate heart rate monitoring during high-intensity workouts, from our range of heart rate monitors.
- A rear-traffic radar that displays alerts on your watch, from our range of radars.
- Speed and cadence sensors from our range of sensors for accurate data on your bike or trainer.
There is nothing to assemble. First, charge the watch using the cable supplied, install the Garmin Connect app on your phone and pair them. Then pair any sensors using the menu on the watch. The steps are set out in the Garmin manual. Before your first long trip, make sure you have installed the latest software so that you have access to all the features.
- Wear the watch on the outside of your sleeve rather than underneath; this is the only way the solar cells will charge.
- If you are using a cycle computer, switch on "Send HR". Your heart rate will then be transmitted to your computer via ANT+, so you don’t need a separate chest strap.
- Choose the mode that suits your distance: Maximum Accuracy for a short race, Maximum Battery Life for an ultra or a multi-day bikepacking trip.
- Pair a radar and you will see traffic approaching from behind straight on your wrist, even without a cycle computer.
